Afterschool

Chef-K developed three after-school courses to guide students through basic nutrition information and cooking techniques while preparing simple recipes. Each course is 6 weeks and can be extended by adding holiday and special occasion activities listed below. Each class is 1 ½ to 2 hours and includes pre- and post-testing for terminology and techniques learned during the lessons.

The testing has been included to enable reporting for grants or to boards what the participants are learning. Specific lesson topics are described below in each of the three courses. Your organization will acquire participant guides for each student each time you run the course. These are workbooks that include the tests and written activities.
Youth organizations can use them to gather data for grant reporting.

Do it yourself: Your organization can purchase an instructor’s guide, and participant books and attend a Zoom Train-the-trainer with videos to guide your staff to facilitate the educational material as an after-school program.

Do it with Chef-K’s help: Chef-K will oversee the training via Zoom, and your moderator will be hands-on in the training room to support the students. A Chef-K trainer will lead the class via Zoom. This is ideal if a Chef-K trainer is unavailable near you.

Chef-K does it for you: Chef-K will run the after-school course for your organization at your facility. Chef-K staff will prepare and teach the course each week. (Limited availability)

In-person training may incur travel and other expenses at actual cost.
Note: This is available only to areas where Chef-K has local certified trainers for you. Contact us if you are interested in a 1-time, sample after-school class.
